Cemetary Road Bridge |
Projects - Infrastructures
Cemetery Road Bridge Eagle County, Colorado LORIS provided an alignment study and final design services for this federally funded road and bridge project. Our initial study investigated eight different alignments that weighed various access point, environmental impact, right-of-way take, railroad crossing, bridge location, river hydraulics, geological, safety and cost factors. As the result of a smooth public process, our design was narrowed down to two locations, each affecting different property owners. Right-of-way costs were extremely high because the proposed route crosses very valuable and rare Eagle County riverfront property. The final alignment was selected based on cost, U.S. 6 access and safety considerations. LORIS proceeded with final design of this $4,000,000, 1.5 mile roadway project that includes an intersection with U.S. 6, a 120 foot long aesthetically detailed bridge, a railroad crossing and coordination with adjacent development. The Cemetery Road Bridge is a one-span, 155' long, 67' wide structure crossing the Eagle River. The structure was made one-span instead of using the more efficient two-span structure type to accommodate river recreational sports. Bridge aesthetics includes stone columns and decorative lighting. |
