Projects - Infrastructures Airport Road & Bridge Boulder County, Colorado
Design of Airport Road from S.H. 119 to Pike Road in Longmont was done on a fast-track basis. In order to replace irrigation structures prior to Spring 2002, these structures were designed and detailed in a separate construction package prior to completing preliminary roadway design. In addition, final right-of-way drawings also needed to be completed prior to preliminary design review in order to secure the necessary land prior to roadway construction in June 2002. LORIS engineered approximately 5,000 feet of improvements to Airport Road, as well as a bridge replacement over Lefthand Creek and improvements to S.H. 119. Work included grading, drainage, pavement design, floodway design of Lefthand Creek, and roadway hydraulics. The project was co-sponsored
by the City of Longmont and Boulder County, requiring short-term and long-term
design consideration between their entities. The Colorado Department
of Transportation was also involved in reviews of modifications to the
S.H. 119 and Airport Road Intersection. LORIS met all deadlines
in completing this bond-issue funded project. The total construction
cost of the project is estimated at $2.4 million.
