Projects - Infrastructures
Baptist Road Improvements El Paso County, Colorado LORIS provided an alignment study and final design of this 2.3-mile roadway in unincorporated EL Paso County, near Monument. The project, in a rapidly growing area, was funded by developer funds collected by the Baptist Road Rural Transportation Authority. Public Process was a critical requirement to first educate local residents and then achieve consent on project goals. The project was being designed at the same time CDOT was designing the Baptist Road/I-25 Interchange that bisects the Baptist Road project limits. Close coordination with the CDOT consultant was also required. The Project was designed to
include interim safety improvements as well as the ultimate cross section
(see existing conditions below). Work included a traffic analysis to determine
long-term traffic needs of the corridor, widening the roadway, improving
alignment and grades, assessing right-of-way, utility impacts and providing
right of way plans and legal descriptions, as well as utility relocation
plans. The construction cost was $12 million.
