Grand Avenue Hover Street Bridge |
Projects - Infrastructures
Hover Street Bridge Rehabilitation/Inspection
City of Longmont, Colorado The existing two-span, 101-foot long structure over the St. Vrain River was badly cracked, spalled and delaminated. LORIS was contracted to perform an assessment, design rating and construction administration for the 16 year old structure. In order to meet current design standards, the existing bridge superstructure,
consisting of single and double tee girders with a concrete overlay, was
completely removed and replaced. The work was performed in three phases
of construction to keep four lanes of traffic plus one sidewalk open at
all times. The existing abutments were in good condition; however, the
expansion joint was moved from the pier to the abutments in order to increase
the structure's service life. |
