Van Bibber Creek Trail Crossing at Ward Road Bear Creek Underpass at Foothills Parkway Elmer's Twomile Truscott Drive Underpasses at SH 82 |
Projects - Infrastructures
Truscott Drive Underpasses Aspen, Colorado The Truscott intersection is the City of Aspen's first major intersection south of Maroon Creek on State Highway 82. The intersection needed to be modified to improve vehicular flow, create a safe pedestrian access to bus routes on SH 82, and accommodate trail traffic crossing Truscott Drive. In order to achieve these goals, the intersection needed to be modified and two intersecting pedestrian underpasses constructed - one beneath Truscott Drive and one beneath the highway. Because the underpasses intersect at right angles to each other, and because the site is tightly constricted, an efficient three-dimensional design was essential. LORIS was able to create an aesthetic, user-friendly intersection using curved retaining walls to minimize space requirements and create a wide-open feeling.
