The Elk Run Assisted Living Center features three above-grade levels and a half basement. The structure is primarily made up of timber framing, except for long transfers over interior assembly areas and a moment frame at the southern exposure to maximize natural light into the dining areas. The basements are carved into the adjacent hillside to balance the cut and fill volumes. Counterfort retaining walls in the hill are comprised of cast-in-place concrete.
