Providence Ice Arena |
Projects - Structures
Providence Ice Arena Architecture One Architects LORIS was a member of the design/build team for this fast-track, 128' span pre-engineered metal building ice arena, providing structural engineering services for the foundation systems, the precast concrete mezzanine bleachers and supporting steel framed structure that housed restrooms and locker rooms below. Having a good understanding of this different type of building system allowed LORIS' engineers and the metal building's engineers to coordinate designs quickly and efficiently, and allowed complex iterations of the design of the bleachers supported on the metal building's columns to progress smoothly. LORIS' knowledge of the loads metal buildings impart on their foundations also allowed for efficient coordination of the foundation systems with the intricate below-slab ice surface build-up. The foundations for the zamboni ice melt pit and the trenched drainage piping were also included in our scope of work. LORIS provided observation services on-site during construction. This facility provides the north Front Range a premier ice rink venue.
