Projects - Structures
ATS/CIRA Research Addition Aller-Lingle Architects Additional research space in these departments on the Foothills Campus drove the need for a three-story building addition. For operational needs, the new addition was located adjacent to, and linked to the existing Atmospheric Research building. The project's location on the west side of Fort Collins adjacent to the foothills subjected the new structure to high wind conditions. LORIS concluded that the most cost-efficient structural solution for this $2.5 million addition is a structural steel frame with steel cross bracing. The building foundation system utilized caissons and grade beams as the potential for high soil swelling on site is high.
