MULTI-USE PATH / BRIDGE DESIGNER

 

Loris and Associates is a small civil & structural engineering company in Lafayette, Colorado that specializes in alternative modes of transportation. Our staff takes pride in our ability to develop creative designs in challenging locations that are environmentally sensitive and aesthetically pleasing. More so than specific experience designing trail projects, we are looking to hire a highly motivated and detail-oriented designer (engineer, landscape architect, or other) who fits with our culture, is inspired by doing quality work, and wants to create sustainable infrastructure. Job Summary

  • Designer for path and trail projects. Will also have opportunities to work on street (traffic calming, streetscapes, and intersections) and bridge (pedestrian and vehicular) projects.
  • Design responsibilities - design of plan and profile, cross sections, construction phasing, grading, drainage, hydraulics, right-of-way, utilities, bridges, retaining walls, and cost estimates. Our projects require a significant amount of coordination between (and understanding of) these various disciplines that present themselves as opportunities or constraints. The best solution melds these factors into a design that seamlessly fits into its surroundings while optimizing the user's experience.
  • Manage small projects.
Optimum Qualifications
  • Four years minimum experience designing street, path/trail and/or bridge projects according to local, National Forest Service, CDOT, and AASHTO standards.
  • Experience in grading, drainage, utility, and/or structural design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, and roadway design software (InRoads), as well as MS Word and Excel. If you are not proficient in this design software, we will provide the training, but you must be willing to put in the effort to learn.
  • Professional registration beneficial but not required.

Subject: Bridge Engineer

BRIDGE ENGINEER

 

Loris and Associates is expanding its Bridge Design service line capabilities. We are looking for a well-rounded, highly motivated individual to join our team as a bridge engineer for Local Agency projects. The candidate will perform the design of bridges (vehicular & pedestrian), retaining walls, and other structures as either stand-alone projects or in conjunction with roadway and/or trail projects. The individual will also provide project management and design on smaller projects. Design creativity and a strong interest in aesthetics are a must.

 

Qualifications

•  Four years minimum progressive experience designing vehicular and pedestrian bridges

•  Prestressed, reinforced concrete, steel, and timber structure types

•  Proficiency in AutoCAD, ConSpan, RISA 3-D, MS Word, and MS Excel

•  Experience designing according to LRFD requirements

•  Experience with CDOT design requirements

•  Experience with various retaining wall types

•  Experience in other structural systems including, but not limited to, drainage facilities and buildings

•  Excellent communication skills and client interface abilities

•  Capability to receive a Colorado P.E. license in one year

 

Job Summary

•  Project Engineer on vehicular and pedestrian bridge projects for complete replacement or rehabilitation

•  Full bridge design responsibilities for substructures and superstructures

•  Perform bridge inspections and write recommendation reports

•  Perform bridge ratings

•  Full retaining wall design responsibilities in conjunction with bridge project, or stand-alone project

•  Ability to assist with structural design on drainage and building projects

•  Project budgeting, scheduling and client interface

•  Write design reports and assist with writing proposals

Job Summary  

  •  Project manager/engineer on roadway, trail, and bridge projects
  •  Business and relationship development on roadway and trail projects
  •  Lead a small team of designers through the entire project cycle
  •  Train and mentor staff

 

Qualifications  

  •  Ten years minimum experience designing street, highway, trail, and bridge projects according to local, CDOT, and AASHTO standards
  •  Experience managing engineers and drafters for on-time and on-budget completion of projects
  •  Business development experience in writing proposals and client contact
  •  Experience in grading, drainage, and utility design
  •  Experience in site development projects desirable, but not required
  •  Proficiency in AutoCAD and InRoads as well as MS Word, Excel, and Project
  •  Colorado Professional registration (or ability to obtain in 3 months) required

Job Summary

•  Work with engineers to develop designs and construction documents for transportation and site development projects

•  Responsible for producing plan and profile, cross sections, intersection, signing & striping, phasing, grading, drainage, right-of-way, and utility CAD drawings.

•  Develop civil engineering CAD standards

•  Manage and maintain a small in-house computer network and applications

 

Qualifications

•  Experience preparing plans for street, highway, and trail projects according to local and CDOT standards

•  Experience in grading, drainage, and utility design

•  High level of proficiency in AutoCAD and LDD or InRoads

•  Hands-on experience managing a small in-house network with engineering applications is highly desirable, but not required
